Get to know some slangs used frequently nowadays in China:
1.炒鱿鱼 Chao(3rd tone) You(2nd tone) Yu(2nd tone)
Sack; dismiss; fire
如果再迟到，你就要被炒鱿鱼了。（You'll be fired if you be late again.)

2.潮 Chao(2nd tone)
fashionable
他很潮。He's in.

3.爆头 Bao(4th tone) Tou(2nd tone)
Originally meaning "shot to death" in the computer game Counter Strike. Now often used to describe "suffer a sudden attack or unexpected blow.
当他知道成绩时，有种被爆头的感觉。As he heard his grade(/score), he was upset.
